Abstract

Private network-to-network interface (PNNI) is seen as the alternative to the interconnecting switches in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. PNNI provides the routing protocol for sending information between end stations through ATM switches over a network. The two basic functions of PNNI are routing and signaling. It also uses a link state algorithm wherein each link iss known to every switch in the network.<br />Private net-to-net interface shows the way.
