Abstract

Infectious diseases affect very old and young patients more severely than the general population, but the prescription of proper antibiotic regimes require great care and awareness of potential complications. This has become even more complex as new medications have been introduced. The development of drug-resistant bacteria can be minimized by proper care regimes and careful drug selection.
