Abstract

An investigation of gastrin release in a murine model of hypergastrinemia induced by omeprazole, a drug for treating ulcers, has provided evidence to support that endogenous gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) mediates gastrin secretion. It was shown that during hypergastrinemia, the inhibition of gastrin release activates a signal for the release of GRP, which, in turn, stimulates gastrin secretion.
