Abstract
- A two-step experimental investigation of an energy-saving nacelle anti-ice system, named hot-film, demonstrates its superiority over the conventional spray-bar anti-ice system. The hot-film system allows a more uniform distribution of the internal heat transfer coefficient, and a reduction in the hot-air mass flow rate and weight of the system. Design optimization aims at achieving sufficient anti-ice capability with minimal use of engine bleed air. The efficiency of the aircraft protection system is analyzed with respect to engine integration problems.
