Abstract

Following a mastectomy, women can choose breast reconstruction through tissue expansion as an alternative to muscle flap surgery. The procedure involves stretching the skin with an inflatable expander, and though it is less predictable and offers some disadvantages, it is also less complicated and invasive than other procedures. Post operative care following the procedure is critical.
