ESR detection of the regioisomers due to addition of methoxy and methylthio radicals to fullerene C70

ESR spectroscopy was employed to observe three regioisomers of the MeS-C70 adduct afforded by the photolyzation of dimethyl disulfide (MeSSMe) in the presence of fullerene C70. Although there is yet no dependable method for assigning the three regioisomers, the observations indicated that each of the regiosiomers has a spectrum characterized by an 85-mG. line width, a 1:3:3:1 quartet and hyperfine splitting constants similar to those of MeS-C60.
