National utility-backed program offers warranties, service plans

The first national warranty-service agreement program for residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning (hvac) equipment is firmly established and continues to expand. Spurred by accelerating utility deregulation, the program has about 1,000 contracts and handles just under 5,000 claims per month. Utility downsizing is expected to grow the program, which is administered by Utility General Inc.
