Abstract
- The impact of hydrogen addition on two parameters, the elastic constant C44 and ultrasonic attenuation alpha(44), of vanadium single crystals was investigated at temperatures between 4.2 K and 220 K. Specifically, measurements were performed with respect to hydrogen concentration, temperature, frequency, rates of cooling, and heating rates. The results suggested the occurrence of ultrasonic double refraction due to the formation of hydrogen and hydride particles.
