Neurocysticercosis: report of unusual pediatric cases

Abstract
- Neurocysticercosis should be considered in previously well children who experience seizures and show a ring-shaped lesion in the brain even if they have none of the risk factors. Cysticercosis is a parasitic infection found widely in Latin America, Asia, and Africa that is transmitted by contact with tapeworm-infected persons. It is rarely seen in patients under two because incubation is prolonged. Seven cases are reported, five in children under age two and two in older children with no known exposure. A CT scan of the brain revealed the encysted parasite in all cases.<br />ABBREVIATIONS.
