Regioselective de novo synthesis of cyanohydroxypyridines with a concerted cycloaddition mechanism

The scope of 1-azadiene cycloaddition is demonstrated by the synthesis [alpha],[alpha]-dicyanoalkenes to obtain highly functionalized 3-hydroxy-pyridines. The findings from the reaction could be applied to explore the 3-hydroxypyridines in materials, synthesis, and medicinal chemistry.
