Measuring employment: comparison of official sources

The UK government is researching into the different results between the statistics based on figures from employers and other sources, Workforce in Employment statistics, and those based on interviews with households, Labour Force Survey statistics. Some of the differences can be attributed to timing and other technical differences. Changing working patterns have affected the statistics, and more investigations will need to be carried out.
