Surface characteristics of polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxane modified clay and its application in polymerization of macrocyclic polyester oligomers

The ion-exchange reaction followed by freeze-drying procedure was used to prepare novel porous POSS modified montmorillonite clay complexes (POSS-Mts) with large interlayer distance and specific surface area. The highly improved tensile properties of the generated PBT/POSS-Mt composites are attributed to the homogeneous dispersion of POSS-Mt in the PBT matrix.
