Abstract

The US shipping industry charges about 100% to 200% more than international vessels in transporting export products. The transit time also takes longer compared to that of foreign shippers due to unavailability of direct service or poor crane capacity by the US-flag carriers. Westinghouse Electric Corp. managed these defects via global transportation sourcing which enables them to do a 90-day round-trip transit time.
