Abstract

Aryllead triacetates were utilized for the N-arylation of amides in the presence of two important functional groups, the amino and beta-dicarbonyl units. p-Tollylead was employed as a model reagent. Results revealed the efficient arylation of nucleophilic carbon atoms including those in beta-dicarbonyl compounds. The efficient arylation of the nitrogen atom of carboxamide, sulfonamide, imide and hydantoin anions was also observed.
