Abstract
- Annexins are cytoplasmic proteins thought to play an important role in the regulation of secretion and in the anti-inflammatory action of glucocorticoids. It has been suggested that the biological functions of annexins are related to their cellular and subcellular localizations. Herein, the functions of annexins I, IV and VI in the lung epithelia were investigated in relation to their respective localizations. Annexin I was detected in ciliated cells, annexin VI in all lung epithelial cells and annexin VI in the alveolar endothelial cells.
