Abstract
- Exogenous administration of glucocorticoids inhibits neutrophil recruitment to inflammatory sites, but the effects of endogenously released glucocorticoids are unknown. An assessment of the effect of elevated endogenous glucocorticoid levels on leukocyte recruitment in the rat carrageenan-induced pleurisy model of acute localized inflammation shows that endogenous glucocorticoids inhibit inflammatory response by inhibiting the accumulation of leukocytes at the sites of inflammation.
