Abstract

St. Louis, MO's local electric utility, Union Electric Co. (EU), has proposed its UE On-Call Appliance Plan that has hvac contractors worried. The plan would offer warranty service to UE's 800,000 customers, a move which some contractors feel would cut into their business. A convention attended by 150 contractors sought to counter the UE's proposal, although EU had sent out flyers assuring contractors they would not be doing any selling or servicing of hvac equipment.
