Abstract
- Hannah Pakula's 'An Uncommon Woman: The Empress Frederick, Daughter of Queen Victoria, Wife of the Crown Prince of Prussia, Mother of Kaiser Wilhelm' is an uncommon biography. It is more than a portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa. It is also a biographical account of Bismarck, the man who kept unified Germany under policies that also kept her and Prince Fritz from reigning as Empress and Emperor. Pakula's book is not perfect, but it is more than just a good read: it is affective.
