Abstract

The synthesis, structures and magnetic properties of some new [Fe.sup.III] and [Fe.sup.II] complexes are described, which has shown the rich coordination chemistry of the multidentate hydrazido salicyl derivative ligands bearing sulfur groups. The studies have shown an unexpected spontaneous reduction of the new [Fe.sup.III][(HL).sub.2]Cl,S complex to the new [Fe.sup.II][([H.sub.2]L).sub.2][Cl.sub.2] high-spin mononuclear complex.
