Abstract: Silver transmetallation is used for preparing a new type of quinoline-functionalized palladium N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes. NHCs with a methylene linker have formed trans bicarbene complexes with pendent quinoline groups in the reaction of Pd(COD)[Cl.sub.2], which NHCs without C[H.sub.2] ;inker has formed chelating palladium NHC-quinoline complexes.
