Magnetic ground-state of perovskite PbV[O.sub.3] with large tetragonal distortion

Abstract: A study was conducted to explore the magnetic properties of PbV[O.sub.3], a PbTi[O.sub.3]-type perovskite with a large tetragonal distortion. The observed two-dimensional magnetism is attributed to the ordering of [d.sub.xy] orbitals, which also play an important role for the large tetragonal distortion of PbV[O.sub.3].
