Abstract
- A new approach to lake eutrophication management use diatoms as indicators of lake trophic status. In comparison with past eutrophication methods, this approach combines six regional training sets of modern surface-sediment diatom assemblages and uses weighted average partial least squares to reconstruct environmental variables. Application of the method to reconstruct historical total phosphorus concentrations for a hypertrophic Danish lake reveals a high predictive ability.
