Abstract

Studies of offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico reveal that at times a substantial percentage fail to meet standards for oil and grease in the water discharged. The Environmental Protection Agency and the offshore petroleum industry disagree about the capability of current equipment to meet the standards at all times.
