Abstract

Direction-of-arrival estimation performance of MUSIC and maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) in the threshold area is analyzed by using general statistical analysis (GSA) or random matrix theory. The simulations have shown significant distinctions between MUSIC/G-MUSIC-specified and MLE-intrinsic causes of performance breakdown, as well as the role of subspace swap phenomena.
