King Soopers Inc and Safeway Inc are both losing market share to Cub Foods and Albertson's Inc during a grocery strike in Denver, CO. Picket lines are being honored by an approximate 80% of Denver's shoppers during the United Food and Commercial Workers Union strike, which began in May 1996. Job security, health care and pension cuts are among the strike's issues. Mass marketers, such as Wal-Mart, could also increase their grocery store market share.
