Abstract
- Five problems on undulator radiation and their solutions are presented. These problems use relativistic mechanics to show how electrons can be induced to emit electromagnetic radiation in a narrow, bright beam with a well-defined wavelength. The electrons are deflected back and forth in a configuration of magnets known as an undulator. The problems collectively demonstrate the importance of the special relativity theory to contemporary accelerator technology.
