Abstract

Sor Juana's famous letter, known as the 'Carta Atenagorica,' was published by the Bishop of Puebla to show the inappropriateness of the nun's outspoken character. The publication of the letter was intended more as an admonition, ignoring any claim that will verify Sor Juana's criticisms against the well-known Jesuit priest, Antonio de Vieyra.
