Abstract

The hydrogen-bonded self-assembly of four polymeric copper(I) complexes using the ligand 3-cyano-6-methyl-2(1H)-pyridinone (Hcmp) as the basic building block was carried out. The four, which have channel structures for modifying the hydrogen-bonding mode and distances, are Cu(Hcmp)4 X where X = ClO(sub 4)(sup -), BF(sub 4)(sup -), PF(sub6)(sup -) and CF3SO(sub3)(sup -). They were synthesized by reacting copper(I) salt with Hcmp in acetone.
