Abstract

Memorial Day festivals attracted record numbers of visitors despite the advent of rain in many areas. Festivals that attracted 100,000 or more visitors during the three-day weekend included the Finast Great American Rib Cook-off in Cleveland, OH; the Riverfest in Little Rock, AR, and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee in Sacramento, CA. Events that attracted 10,000 or more visitors included the Moonshine Festival in Straitsville, OH; the Guthrie Jazz Banjo Festival in Guthrie, OK, and the Horned Toad Derby in Coalinga, CA.<br />As is often the case, rainy weather impacted several of the festivals that ran over Memorial Day Weekend, but even so, many events reported strong numbers and were generally upbeat.
