Abstract

Paper and pulp mills can solve their waste management problems by taking into account physical characteristics of waste materials when building landfills. The mills need to evaluate the waste's subsurface hydrologic and geotechnical conditions, consider specialized construction techniques for unstable surfaces, and use wastes as construction materials when building solid waste landfills.
