Abstract
- The poleward coastal undercurrent, and the southward current bands, off the southwest Indian coast during the southwestern monsoon of 1993, were represented by the mean 0-300 m velocity distribution of the ADCP present on a ship. The northward flow, that carried the Bay of Bengal water, reached the surface and there was no clear subsurface core. There was no transition area between the northward and the southward flow. The southward flow was not a recirculation of the northward flow or an eddy-like feature. The water in the flows was contributed mainly from the upper 300 m.
