Abstract

A study asymptotically develops the stress intensity factors for elastostatics problems dealing with semi-infinite cracks located close to and parallel to a bimaterial interface. A singular integral equation method evolves the crack opening displacement (eta) at the interface and the stress intensity factor (K(sub I)). The distance from the tip of the crack to the interface is a function of eta and K(sub I).
