YBCO shielded LaAlO3 dielectric resonators for stable oscillators

Abstract

The performance of dielectric resonators fabricated from single crystalline LaAlO3 and shielded by YBa2Cu3O7 epitaxial films is evaluated at various frequencies and temperatures. The resonators' quality factors and power dissipation are measured together with the phase noise using a spectrum analyzer. Results show that the dielectric resonators perform better than high temperature superconductive planar resonators and non-superconducting resonators.
