Abstract
- A set of superconducting junctions is connected in parallel through a stripline inductor to create a superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) mixer. The junctions' large capacitance provides the mixer with excellent impedance matching and low normal resistance. This setup also enables the SIS mixer to attain a sideband noise temperature of less than 40 degrees Kelvin over the bandwidth 90-115 GHz.
