Abstract
- Two [Nb.sub.3]Sn subscale magnets (SQ02 and SD01) are tested in various axial loading conditions to examine the effect of axial support on quench performance. A three-dimensional (3D) element analysis has shown a high tensile strain at the end of the straight section, which is followed by about 2000 microstrain of compression in the tip of the end.
