Abstract

The syntheses of both the SbCl4+ cation and novel SbBr4+ cation as their Sb(OTeF5)6- salts are described. The compounds were prepared by oxidation of SB(OTeR5)3 with Cl2 and Br2, respectively. The salts were characterized by low-temperature Raman spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography and in solution at ambient temperature by 19F, 121Sb and 123Sb spectroscopy.
