Alternative energy sources are predicted to become prevalent in the near future. However, energy managers are not equipped to handle the changes that will likely take place within their companies once these sources have attained widespread use. To maximize benefits from alternative energy sources, managers should carefully study contracts with utilities, expand their knowledge of the electric utility industry and redesign their company's power loads to make them more efficient. They should also take a proactive stance towards deregulation and provide utilities with a list of their needs.
