Abstract

Finite element analysis is used for studying the mechanical behavior of the cold mass assembly of the R3B-GLAD magnet. The designed cold mass structure is capable to resist high level magnetic forces and the estimation on the mechanical and thermal properties of the coils is obtained by homogenization process.
