Abstract

A number of Bell regional holding companies have begun offering Internet connections despite questions concerning the legality of providing end-to-end direct long distance access. Pacific Telesis, for instance, has established Pacific Bell Internet Services Inc. in May 1995 to serve the California market while Ameritech is offering access at 56 kbps and 1.544 Mbps for businesses, and mix-and-match data broad services for schools.<br />In 1995, RBOCs decided the Net was for real.
