Abstract
- A study was conducted to characterize the mouse Xist gene promoter region by examining promoter activity by chloramphenicol acetyltransferase assays after transfection in murine cell lines. Two regions, from -81 to +1, and, from -41 to -15, were identified to regulate promoter activity. A region located at -30 to -25 was shown to have binding affinity with a nuclear factor, while a region at -82 to -41 is needed for correct expression of the Xist gene.
