Abstract

Earhart, born in Kansas in 1898, was the first American woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. This 1932 event took less than 16 hours. On a round the world fight in 1937, her plane was lost in the Pacific. The three nations issuing Earhart commemoratives are the US, Mali, and Surinam.<br />In 1989 in, Atchison, Kansas a girl was born and given the name Amelia Earhart.
