Abstract

Federal food regulations underwent many revisions in 1995 as the government sought to ensure consumer safety and raise standards in food processing. New rules implemented in 1995 include nutrition labeling of health foods, new standards for labeling bottled water and mechanically separated poultry. The FDA and the Food Safety and Inspection Service also announced their drafts for the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point system, meat processing standards and pesticide residues.
