Abstract

Analysis of transepithelial characteristic of monolayers generated by primary cultures of human cystic epithelium reveals that an increase in active chloride anion secretion, controlled by adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate, causes fluid secretion by cystic epithelial cells. The secretion involves hyperpolarization of the apical-negative V(sub te) and an increase in positive I(sub sc). The experimental procedure of the analysis is discussed
