Synthesis of all stereoisomeric carbapentofuranoses

Carbocyclic models of pentofuranoses can be prepared from base- or acid-catalyzed baeyers. In the study, observations were made on norborn-5-en-2-one and research results show the formation of an olefinic double bond. Cis-hydroxylation techniques are useful to find the epoxidation and reaction with aqueous perchloric acid.
