Abstract
- The Tretyakov Gallery is mounting an exhibit of 300 icon-paintings, secular paintings and album and easel graphics from Moscow, St. Petersburg and provincial museums. Entitled 'Primitivism in Russia, 18th-19th Centuries,' the exhibit showcases for the first time many works belonging to the so-called primitivist artists such as Bolotov and Stakhovsky, who had no formal training but were somehow familiar with painting techniques.
