Abstract

Giftware importers are steadily learning how to do business in a global market, even as they approach 1996 with caution in the absence of any anticipated economic explosion. Gift stores are increasingly becoming the first choice of most importers who say that unlike gift stores which maintain the integrity of their products, department stores often get rid of unwanted items by selling them to closeout companies, thereby cheapening the value of the imports.<br />Importers are approaching 1996 with a spirit of caution, not anticipating an economic boom, but steadily continuing to 'work out the kinks' involved in doing business around the globe.
