Quantum and molecular mechanical study of the first proton transfer in the catalytic cycle of cytochrome P450cam and its mutant D251N

The results from quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QM/MM) calculations are used to elucidate the proton transfer in the catalytic cycle of cytochrome P450cam. The results provide insight into significance of the hydrogen-bond network in the Asp251 channel for efficient proton delivery.
