Direct measurement of lipid peroxidation in submitochondrial particles

Abstract: A fluorescence assay method for the measurement of lipid peroxidation in submitochondrial particles gives results similar to the direct oxygen consumption method and is a convenient method for the determination of lipid peroxidation. The method makes use of the sensitivity of polyunsaturated fatty acid, parinaric acid to peroxidative damage. Lipid peroxidation gives an indication of improper body function and the advancement of disease.
