Modem demand hots up

Many manufacturers are now competing to supply the market for modems for use in the home, and this has driven prices down. There are still strong sales of modems which operate at 14,400bps, as these are relatively inexpensive. However, this is set to change in 1996, when suppliers will start to offer 28,800bps access to their services. Higher powered modems make it much quicker to retrieve images from the Internet.
