Abstract
- Intracerebroventricular injection of the nitric oxide synthesis inhibitor L-NAME decreases food intake and in enhances the oxygen consumption, the firing rate of sympathetic nerves innervating interscapular brown adipose tissue and temperature. However, intraperitoneal injection decreased all the factors. Different effects of the molecule on sympathetic output are most likely responsible for the oppositional effects when the different injection routes were used.
